EndurElite Chief Endurance Officer Matt Mosman discusses what the supplement Actigin is and how it can enhance the performance of runners, cyclists, and other endurance athletes.
Good morning, endurance friends! Matt Mosman, the endurance guru over at EndurElite, coming at you with another endurance fast fact.
Today, we're going to talk about the supplement Actigin, which happens to be found in our PerformElite Pre-Workout. Now, I don't know why Actigin, the name Actigin, makes me think of a superhero, but it makes a lot of sense, I guess, when it comes to, you know, superheroes and endurance athletes. Both usually wear pretty tight clothes. Both can usually go pretty fast. And both can really, you know, accomplish amazing feats. So I guess you could say Actigin can kind of make you like a superhero. Whoa! That's pretty awesome.
Okay, maybe I wouldn't go that far, but Actigin can have a few benefits in terms of enhancing endurance performance. And we'll get to those in a minute. But let's just briefly tell you what Actigin is. Actigin is a bunch of different compounds that's extracted from something you're very familiar with, Ginseng. And Actigin can provide, basically, three to four different benefits that can improve endurance performance.
And we're not talking by a little amount. We're talking that Actigin can help glycogen resynthesis by about 300% compared to placebo. And we all know glycogen is the stored form of glucose in the muscles and the liver. That's a preferred source of energy during exercise, especially high-intensity exercise. So that's benefit number one of Actigin.
We put our muscles through hell whether we're running or biking or, you know, jumping through fire like an obstacle course racer. And if we can deal with inflammation, that can help us exercise longer and also recover faster.
So what does this mean? Basically, it just means it can speed your recovery.
And I won't geek out on the explanation there. I'm going to refer you to a blog after that where you can get a more in-depth look at that.
So how do you bring that all together with those four benefits of Actigin? How can it enhance endurance performance? And I'm just going to tell you about a little study on Actigin that's going to blow your mind.
So the researchers took a group of cyclists. They had them cycle like 80% of VO2 max. Until exhaustion, basically. Until they could go no longer. And what they found is the group that took Actigin, compared to placebo, were able to cycle 20% longer and have a 20% greater work output. Holy-moly. That's a lot of performance enhancing benefits of Actigin.
So that is what Actigin does, in a nutshell. If you really want to geek out on Actigin, we have an awesome blog on the EndurElite website. Right here is the address, www.endurelite.com.
So go ahead, check it out, geek out. And until next time, stay fueled, stay focused and stay fast.
