Lose 10 Pounds Fast! What A Bunch Of BS!
Good morning, family of fast, Matt Mosman, the chief endurance officer over at EndurElite. Do you know what today is? Today is a good day to bust some more bull [inaudible 00:00:20]. Now, we're gonna delve a little bit outside of the endurance [inaudible 00:00:25] realm today because some bullshit is just too ripe for the picking to pass up.
So, a little story for you. I was driving in my car this weekend, cruising around in the nice South Dakota weather and listening to the radio, and this advertisement comes on and it says, "How would you like to lose 10 pounds in 10 days, and get shredded, get cut, get jacked, get swoll, attract all the ladies?"
And if it's not... And it gets better. So right away my [inaudible 00:01:00] meter is, like, going off, but then it gets better. It goes on to say, "If you lose more than 10 pounds in 10 days, give us a call because we can adjust your dosage." Like somebody's gonna take these products they're talking about and lose 10 pounds and call this nutrition shop, which we're not gonna mention, and be like, "Oh my God, I lost 10 pounds in 10 days. Help me. It's the end of the world."
So those two things just lit my [inaudible 00:01:32] meter and it just went from here to here in less than five minutes after listening to this radio ad. So, like I said, I'm not gonna name the nutrition company that is promoting this radio ad. They're one of the more popular ones, and I'm not gonna name the two products outright because Matt has learned, when you talk bad or name names, you can get sued, and I do not want to get sued.
So, let's see, by looking at these products that they're promoting, if there's any way in God's green earth you're gonna be able to lose 10 pounds in 10 days, and then we're gonna dig a little bit deeper to really bust this [inaudible 00:02:19] wide open.
Can Supplements Alone Help You Lose 10 Pounds In 10 Days?
So the products that this company were promoting were two different products. One claimed to basically increase metabolism, burn fat on a cellular level, and the other one says it's gonna make you lean gently and help you shed those unwanted pounds. So, this is complete crap.
So let's look at some ingredients in both these products. So product number one that it claims to increase metabolism has things like caffeine and hydrous, which not bad, green tea extract, not bad. Yohimbe bark extract, not bad. Out of all those three, yohimbe probably promotes "fat burning" a little more than the other two. And then you have a whole bunch of other ingredients that I can't even pronounce. I know what they are, they don't do jack squat.
So, looking at this first product that increases metabolism or fat burning, they have some pretty solid ingredients in it, like caffeine and hydrous, green tea leaf extract and the yohimbe. But the problem is, all of these are combined into proprietary blends so you don't know the exact dosages you're getting of each one. And just looking at the total amount, there's no way that this is gonna do anything to increase resting metabolic rate or burn fat.
Even if you did have the proper dosage of these, you're not gonna lose 10 pounds in 10 days by just taking this. But maybe it's the magic of product number two that's gonna help burn this fat. So, product number two has omega threes, the fish oils EPA and DHA, linoleic acid, MCT oil. What else? Linoleic acid, caprylic acid. Yeah, conjugated linoleic acid.
Again, these ingredients aren't bad, but there's not a lot of strong research behind them. But the problem comes again, they're all in a proprietary blend at 1,000 milligrams. And right off the bat, fish oil should be about 1,500 milligrams to be effective. And the rest of those ingredients I just mentioned, they really don't do too much for fat burning at all. So, both those products as far as what they do, as promoting increase in resting metabolic rate, or burning fat or helping you keeping lean, I give it two thumbs down, do not work. There is no way you are gonna lose 10 pounds in 10 days by solely taking these two products.
So, what the heck is going on? And here's the catch. This is where it gets really funny. I'm reading on the instruction label, these supplements are best used in conjunction with a healthy diet of 1,500 calories a day or less in conjunction with exercise. So that is the real reason you might be able to lose 10 pounds in 10 days, because they're basically recommending you eat not a lot of calories.
The Real Reason You Might Lose 10 Pounds In 10 Days
Basically, you're eating less calories than your resting metabolic rate, for most people. They're also suggesting a high protein, low carb diet, which is gonna help with fluid loss in the body. So those 10 pounds more than likely are just gonna be coming from fluid loss. And then the calorie restriction created by eating or burning more calories and you're eating and then going with the exercise too and burning more calories, and that's probably the real reason that you're gonna lose weight.
It's not because you're gonna...these two products are magic. And the same thing too, if you're losing 10 pounds in 10 days, I mean, you're probably sacrificing a lot of lean muscle tissue. But most of all, I think it's just because of the fluid retention by the cell. When you decrease carbohydrates, you lose a little more fluid. Higher protein diets will kind of do that to you at first.
So, what's the moral of the story? Well, my dad always told me, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. And this is the case with these products promoting that you're gonna lose 10 pounds in 10 days. And if you do, call the shop real quick to have your dosages adjusted, because everybody is gonna do that. Man, I'm gonna blow my top here in a second, so I'm gonna cut this video off.
